The moon shows its “full face” to Earth once a month. A full moon is the lunar phase that occurs when the Moon is completely illuminated as seen from Earth. During this time, the energy surrounding the full moon tends to be quite intense, particularly for energetically sensitive empaths!
Is it a coincidence that suicide rates tend to be higher during the full moon? And emergency rooms tend to have more patients? Seventy per cent of the human body is made up of water. Thus, the moon has an effect on our body, that is very similar to its gravitational pull on the earth’s ocean and rivers. Whatever is going on in our body, mind and spirit is typically amplified.
Technically, the same side of the moon always faces the planet, but part of it is in shadow. In fact, most of the time the “full moon” is never perfectly full. Only when the moon, Earth and the sun are perfectly aligned is the moon 100 percent full, and that alignment produces a lunar eclipse.
The full moon can be an ideal time of positive opportunity if you optimize the energies surrounding this period accordingly. It can increase your positive energy or it can intensify your negative emotions.
Since a large amount of energy comes with the full moon, it’s best to maintain a calm state of mind to receive a positive effect. If we are upset, we will feel even more upset. If we are happy, we will feel happier. The energy is very powerful so it’s important to direct it with positive intention. Knowing that our positive and negative emotions will be intensified and learning how to manage it is an opportunity for spiritual growth.
Did you know that even a few minutes of Reiki self-treatment each day can help sharpen your intuitive abilities during the full moon phase? Since Reiki is available at anytime, whenever you feel like you need clarity or a sense of grounding in your life, you can harness the power of Reiki energy.
Reiki energy travels to the energetic centers in the body that requires clearing. Placing your hands on or above the chakras allows the energy to be drawn in. Reiki universal energy does the rest.
Healing yourself is the starting point for gaining clarity.
Reiki is not just a tool for healing, it also brings about personal growth and spiritual development.
As you progress along your journey with Reiki, you will naturally come up against obstacles and setbacks in your life. However, with Reiki you will have the strength and awareness to deal with them.
You may also perform Reiki to recharge your energy every day, not just when problems, difficulties, anxiety or illnesses arise. Daily self-treatment may help to prevent sickness and bring your life into focus and balance quickly.
With increasingly busy lifestyles, it’s easy to allow weeks to go by without spending much time outside. It’s also easy to get caught up in a daily routine that does not include any time focused on you.
Trust me. As an empath, I know it can be tough when surrounded by heavy energy. Emotions that I thought I dealt with in the past resurface again. It’s almost as if I need that closure all over again.
So how else can an empath survive the intense energy of the full moon each month? There are a number of ways to alleviate the intensity. Here are 3 simple tips!
1. Consume less salt.
There are many health benefits to consuming less salt throughout the year but even more so during the full moon. It’s a time of releasing and cleansing on the physical, emotional, mental and energetic level.
Consuming less salt can help with detoxification and the flushing out of any extra water from the body. To take a step further, avoid fried and spicy foods in order to follow a balanced diet comprising organic grains, vegetables and fruits for long-term benefits.
2. Stay hydrated.
Water is an amplifier for energy. Consuming more liquids helps with energy flow through the chakras. It also helps with grounding.
Not a fan of drinking plain ol’ water? No problemo. You can always spice up your beverage of choice with mint leaves, lemon, strawberry, cucumber, and so forth. Drinking coconut water and watermelon juice can also help to keep your body cool.
3. Ground down.
Don’t push yourself but do the needful during this time period. Opt for gentle flow yoga over a cardio spin class. Dive into a new book to help you wind down during the evenings. The full moon a great time to ground down a bit to prepare for a really amazing blast of energy that’s in store.
It’s easy to quickly lose a sense of peace and balance due to the intense energy surrounding the full moon. The next time you feel like your emotions are taking over, remember that it’s ok. Full moon or not, having a meltdown happens to all of us at one point or another. The key is to ground yourself during such emotional times.
Remember, staying grounded in the midst of challenging times is a lifelong learning process. But it comes naturally with consistent practice!
